Lieutenant David Chukwudera Okafor, a Nigerian Naval Officer from Ogbunike, Anambra State, has been selected as a judge for the 2023-2024 International Ship Design Competition. He will design a RoPax ferry for the Niger River, accommodating 150-200 passengers, cargo, and 15-20 vehicles, to improve safety. The competition, organized by the Worldwide Ferry Safety Association, aims to reduce ferry fatalities globally. Okafor, with over a decade of experience, excels in ship design and marine project management. He holds degrees from SUNY Maritime College, University of Hull, and is pursuing a PhD at the University of Strathclyde. Okafor, celebrated in Igboland, balances his career with family life and is committed to environmental sustainability.
