MEET THE TRIBLAZER WOMAN IN NIGERIA POLITICS AND THE RECIPIENTS OF ICONIC ACE AWARDS 2026

Hon. Olajumoke Abidemi Okoya-Thomas is a prominent Nigerian politician and socialite who currently serves as the Lagos State Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC). She is also a member of the prestigious Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC). 

 Hon Jumoke Okoya was born on January 20, 1957, in Lagos.

She is the daughter of the late Chief Molade Okoya-Thomas, a renowned billionaire and the former Asoju Oba of Lagos.

Hon Jumoke holds diplomas in Senior Managers in Government from the University of Lagos and Harvard University, as well as a diploma in secretarial administration from Burleigh College.

Recently, she was appointed as the Otun Iyalode of Lagos by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu, in January 2026.

Political Career

She represented the Lagos Island I Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives for three consecutive terms from 2003 to 2015.

Legislative Focus: During her time in the House, her primary interests were the social development of women and children. She chaired the Committee on Public Petitions and served on committees including Banking & Currency, Diaspora, and Women Affairs.

As the APC Women Leader in Lagos State, she focuses on mobilizing women for political participation and governance, recently hosting summits geared toward the 2027 political agenda.

Recent Recognition

In January 2026, President Bola Tinubu commended her for her consistent efforts in increasing women's participation in politics and her commitment to traditional institutions in Lagos.
