Commissioner in Newark, NJ: In 2016, Dr. Talabi became the first Nigerian woman appointed as an African Commissioner for the City of Newark, NJ. She currently serves as the city’s Taxi Commissioner.

Advisory and Diplomatic Roles: She served as a Special Adviser to the Newark Mayor’s Office of International Relations & Diaspora Affairs and as Ogun State Ambassador for Culture & Tourism (2018–2019).

Political Candidacy: Dr. Talabi recently announced her candidacy to represent Ogun Central Senatorial District in Nigeria in the March 2026 elections.

Humanitarian and Social Impact

Domestic Violence Advocacy: Founder of the Women In Shelter and Environment (WISE) Foundation, establishing Nigeria’s first domestic violence shelter.
